Process Reflection 2:
As I reflect on the work I have done this far for my capstone project, I feel confident that it is in a good place, but also nervous moving forward. I have been thinking more deeply about my topic and have begun brainstorming ideas for potential artifacts. I have also had to adjust some logistics so it will work with online school. While I scheduled two interviews with internal sources, they have both been postponed because they were supposed to be held in person last week. I need to follow up with Mr. Clark and DW about new times and ways to conduct these interviews.
Additionally, I began my draft of the written component and feel pretty good about it. I am still in the early stages and feel that I need to narrow it down to a central idea before moving forward. I feel that I may be thinking about my topic from too many different lenses. I have been looking at the historical, scientific, cultural and psychological impacts and causes of creativity, and I need to narrow it down in order to have a clearer idea. This has been challenging for me, as they all seem intertwined with one another. Once I narrow down the scope, I think completing the written component will become more manageable. My main question that I want to explore is, “how has creativity been essential to societal growth and human advancement?” I plan to continue researching and thinking about how creativity has not only been complicit in but necessary for the evolution and success of humanity. I am hoping this central theme will be specific enough to guide my project. I hope to somehow create an interactive artifact that will allow the viewer to demonstrate creative thinking.

Process Reflection 1:
I have been reading many scientific articles to help me better understand the neuroscience of creative cognition and how our brains enable the creative process. I have found some particularly helpful articles from Scientific American. These articles have helped me understand my topic in a more concrete, factual way before I begin to think more abstractly. Internally, I hope to speak to Mr. Clark and DW. From Mr. Clark, I hope to gain a deeper scientific understanding of my topic. The first question I want to ask is, “can you tell me about the neuroscience of creativity and creative thinking?” I think the most important question I would like to ask is, “what is the neurological source of creativity in humans?” Additionally, I would like to ask, “why are some people more creative than others” and “is creativity a distinctly human characteristic, or do all animals demonstrate it?”
With DW, the first question I want to ask is, “how has our ability to be creative creatures allowed shaped our society?” The most important question I would like to ask is, “How has creativity changed the world?” Additionally, I want to ask him, “does creativity vary between different cultures?” and “what is the source of creativity within a human?”
For my external source, I would like to interview musician and inventor Gil Weinberg. He is extremely creative and knowledgeable about this area of thinking. He invents experimental musical instruments and is creative in many different ways. The first question I want to ask him is, “how do you define creativity,” and “what happens in the brain when people create or listen to music?” The most important question I want to ask is, “can artificial intelligence produce creativity?” I am excited to hear his thoughts on music, creativity, and artificial intelligence.
Currently, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by the scope of my topic. It seems like it is too vague and needs more direction in a specific area, but I am thinking this will naturally occur as I complete my research. I think I need to refine my ideas by making my topic more specific. I think everyone I hope to interview has a unique and meaningful perspective on my topic, but I need to figure out a way in which they all connect that is not too broad.
